Promitto Group AS Supplies 55,000 Meters of LED Lighting for the E4 Förbifart Stockholm Project
Promitto Group AS, in collaboration with Bravida Sweden, is proud to announce its participation in the E4 Förbifart Stockholm project by supplying 55,000 meters of LED lighting.
This ambitious initiative is led by the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) – constructing a new segment of the E4 road west of Stockholm, known as Bypass Stockholm.
The new 21-kilometer stretch includes extensive tunnel sections connecting Stockholm from north to south. And to preserve vital environmental and cultural values, approximately 18 of the 21 kilometers will be built underground. This will make the E4 Förbifart Stockholm one of the longest motorway tunnels in the world.
E4 Bypass Stockholm features 21 kilometers of tunnels, which include two parallel service tunnels, ramps, and cross-tunnels.
The project’s total budget is estimated at 41.7 billion Swedish kronor (at 2021 price levels). This is according to the National Transport Infrastructure Plan for the period 2022-2033, with an expected completion date set for 2030.

55.000 meters of LED-strip
In collaboration with Bravida Sweden, Promitto Group AS is supplying 55,000 meters of LED lighting for the service tunnels. Bravida has been entrusted with executing all installations related to the subcontracting work. Meaning – this includes electrical supply, lighting, HVAC, and fixed fire extinguishing systems. More specificly covering all planning, construction, production, delivery, installation, testing, maintenance, and commissioning.
The tunnel facility is divided into 33 operational areas. Each area requiring various types of lighting, encompassing a total of 55,000 meters of tunnel piping. Within these areas, there is a parallel cable duct and an extensive system of escape routes where lighting will be installed. The chosen solution is a lighting system tailored to meet the specific needs of Trafikverket.
Promitto will be delivering the customized lighting, consisting of both LED strips and floodlights. Additionally, power cabinets will be strategically placed every 150 meters throughout the tunnels. Promitto provides a complete solution with LED strips connected in segments of 3×50 meters, along with HighLite floodlights for the cabinet areas. This customized lighting solution will be powered by a single power supply – simplifying installation work, resulting in significant cost savings.
