Automatic LED Light Controller

Easy installation – impressive results!

With Promitto’s automatic LED light controller, you get fully automatic stair lighting with motion sensors. And when you enter the staircase, the sensors detect your movement and turn on the LED lights step by step. Once you have passed, the lights will gradually dim down again.

The solution provides safer, smarter and more energy-efficient stair lighting without the need for manual control.

The controller is suitable for staircases with up to 20 steps and can be used with different types of LED lighting.

How does automatic stair lighting work?

Sensor

The system uses one IR sensor at the top and one at the bottom of the staircase. The sensors detect the direction of movement, while the controller activates the lights accordingly.

When a sensor is activated:

  • The LED lights turn on step by step
  • The light follows you up or down the staircase
  • The lights gradually dim after you have passed
  • You get light exactly when you need it

You can adjust how quickly the lights turn on and off, as well as how long they remain active.

Choose your standby lighting

You can choose between two different settings when the staircase is not in use:

  • 20% standby lighting
Keep the staircase softly illuminated for increased safety and a pleasant visual effect.
  • Off
Turn the lighting completely off when the staircase is not in use for maximum energy efficiency.

You can also connect an external switch if you want the option of permanent or manual lighting.

What is included?

The package contains everything you need to control your stair lighting:

  • 1 Control Unit
  • 6m Sensor Cables
  • 2 IR Sensors
  • 1 Power Supply
  • 1 Manual

The control unit is supplied pre-programmed and ready to use.

What else do you need?

To create a complete automatic stair lighting system, you need LED lighting for the individual steps, and optionally aluminium profiles and additional cable.

1.LED strips

Choose the number of LED strips based on the number of steps in your staircase. Measure the width of each step to determine the appropriate LED strip length.

2.Aluminium profiles

Profiles are optional, but they provide several benefits. They protect the LED strips while also creating a cleaner and more professional finish.

3.Cable

As a general guideline, allow approximately 50 metres of cable for a staircase with up to 16 steps. The actual requirement may vary depending on the staircase design and installation.

Smart functions and flexible solutions:

Up to 20 light outputs

The controller has 20 separate outputs, allowing you to control the lighting step by step in staircases with up to 20 steps.

If you do not use all outputs for step lighting, the remaining outputs can be used for additional lighting.

For example, you can add lighting:

  • Under the handrail
  • In the ceiling
  • Along the wall
  • In other areas around the staircase

Additional lighting can remain at a low permanent light level and increase in brightness when the sensor is activated.

Small, self-calibrating IR sensors

The IR sensors do not require a reflector or separate receiver sensor on the opposite side. This means they can be installed on one side of the staircase, both at the top and bottom.

The sensors are self-calibrating and discreet, making them easy to integrate into the staircase.

Adjustable lighting control

You decide how the lighting should operate. The controller allows you to adjust settings such as:

  • How long the lights remain active
  • How quickly the lights turn on
  • How quickly the lights dim
  • Light level and sensor functions
  • Compatible with 7–24V

The controller can be used with power supplies from 7 to 24V and is compatible with several types of low-voltage LED lighting, including LED strips and LED spots.

Each output can handle up to 500 mA / 6 W per LED light.

Standard DIN design

The control unit is manufactured according to DIN 43880. It can therefore be mounted separately on a wall or inside a standard electrical cabinet.

Easy installation

The control unit is supplied pre-programmed, and the included manual provides step-by-step installation instructions.

Note: Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrical installer.

Designed for quality and safety

The automatic LED controller is designed, developed and manufactured in Germany.

Promitto has developed the solution in cooperation with the manufacturer to meet Norwegian requirements for functionality, quality and safety.

The result is a modern automatic stair lighting solution that combines safety, comfort, energy efficiency and a clean, modern appearance.
